So I bought some pomegranate juice (finally) from a Polish market near King of Prussia. You might know KoP as the home of the King of Prussia Mall (a.k.a. Temple of Consumerism, complete with Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom and, my own personal guilty pleasure, Williams-Sonoma). Now we can also know that it is home to a cute little Polish market. Who knew? Anyway, a quick trip to Acme for some pectin and we'll be on our way with the pomegranate jelly. I just know that my husband is going to shake his head with just a little annoyance when he realizes what I'm up to. Just weeks away from moving and we're trying to save money - why buy stuff we don't need to make stuff we don't need? Good question, but the only answer I have is that I've caught the bug...the canning bug and I cannot be rational in the face of an untried recipe. I'll let you know how it goes. Just give me a couple days, o.k.?
There's something odd about trying to close out a life at one house while still worrying about whether or not you'll actually close on the new house. I am a world class worrier and am having trouble envisioning smooth settlements on either place. I'm trying not to fall too hard for the prospective new house, just in case. Don't want to jinx it, you know (I make a claim to be not superstitious, which is complete bull). I live a great life - wonderful husband, amazing kid, excellent friends, fantastic family, more than sufficient food, clothing and shelter. I'm all around an incredibly lucky girl. I wish I could accept all this luck and grace and quite worrying about stuff so much. Maybe that should be my project for the year. On second thought...I'll stick to canning.
